Cassowaries are large flightless birds that live in New Guinea and Australia.
The cassowary can grow up to 5.5 feet tall making it the 3rd largest bird in the world after ostriches and emus.
Cassowaries have been voted the "world’s most dangerous bird" in the Guinness Book of Records. They have very powerful legs with long sharp claws. Cassowaries have been known to kill humans. In addition they are unpredictable. While mostly shy they can be agressive if they are threatened. Because of this they are difficult to keep in zoos.
Cassowaries are endangered.
